Gasto Kihundwa is a figurative artist who is truly fired and love art.
Gasto Kihundwa a passionate African Art painter. He was born in 1992 in Kilimanjaro, Tanzania. Kihundwa is specialised in amazingly colorful paintings. Gasto’s passion for art started in an early age. While growing up, there were no art materials available. Following his passion he fixed up carbons from dry cell electrical storage devices and used them for drawing.
From there he further expanded on his world of Art. Involving his styles and master the
colorful realistic paintings into vibrant forms. The colorful touches has been an essential
way of expressing his artwork.
When I paint, I try to capture the true feelings and details of animals such as lions,
elephants, etc. I look on how I could paint them in my own image. Before I even start a
painting I already have a vision in my mind. While starting the painting it develops with
every stroke of my brush. I love to paint the wildlife of my home Tanzania, especially
elephants are one of my favourites. I want to show the beauty of our earth through my
paintings and showing a different perspective of the way it is.His work was so successful
that he has been able to achieve his dream and make a living from his artwork.
Gasto previously worked for the Arusha Declaration Museum from 2009-2013, and then the
Natural History Museum from 2015-2017. Later in 2017 Gasto exhibited for East Africa Art
Biennale and Alliance Francoise. He also collaborated with other artists to found a group
for art known as Swahili Art. Gaston currently works for African Galleria near by Lake
Manyara National Park.
